vpp-probe

\n $\"GitHub$ $\"Docker$ \n

\n\n---\n\n## Intro\n\nVPP-probe is a command-line tool for inspecting and monitoring of VPP instances running in any kind of environment (_Kubernetes_, _Docker_, _Local_). It aims to help during debugging of issues that occur in the distributed systems containing several VPP instances.\n\n### Features\n\n- **Instance Discovery** - discover VPP instances in the target system environment\n- **Packet Tracing** - trace packets from multiple VPP instances while executing arbitrary command \n- **Command Execution** - execute commands on multiple VPP instances at once \n- **Topology Auto-Correlation** - automatic correlation of connections across VPP instances\n\n## Install\n\nYou can get vpp-probe by downloading a pre-compiled binary, using the official Docker image or building it from source.\n\n### Download a pre-compiled binary\n\nGo to [GitHub Releases](https://github.com/ligato/vpp-probe/releases) and download a binary pre-compiled for your system.\n\n### Get Docker image\n\nGo to [DockerHub Tags](https://hub.docker.com/r/ligato/vpp-probe/tags) for list of available tags.\n\n##### Prerequisites\n\n- [Docker](https://docs.docker.com/get-docker/) is required\n\n```sh\n# Pull the latest image\ndocker pull ligato/vpp-probe\n\n# Print version\ndocker run --rm -it ligato/vpp-probe version\n```\n\n### Build from source\n\n##### Prerequisites\n\n- [Go 1.15+](https://golang.org/doc/install) is required\n\nTo install vpp-probe from source simply run:\n\n```sh\n# Install the latest version\ngo install go.ligato.io/vpp-probe@latest\n# if you have Go older than 1.16 run: GO111MODULE=on go get go.ligato.io/vpp-probe\n\n# Print version\nvpp-probe version\n```\n\n## Quick Start\n\nWhere is your VPP running?\n\n

\n\n

Kubernetes

\n\nBasic commands for VPP running in a Kubernetes pod\n\n```sh\n# Discover VPP instances in a cluster\nvpp-probe --env=kube discover\n\n# Execute a command on all VPP instances\nvpp-probe --env=kube exec -- \"vppctl show counters\"\n\n# Trace packets on all VPP instances for the duration of ping command\nvpp-probe --env=kube trace \"kubectl exec -it mypod -- ping -c 1 10.10.1.1\"\n```\n\nSpecify target cluster(s) (kubeconfig/context)\n\n```sh\n# Run on different cluster by providing custom kubeconfig and/or context\nvpp-probe --kubeconfig=\"my.kubeconfig\" \nvpp-probe --kubecontext=\"kind-2\" \n\n# Run on multiple clusters by adding another kubeconfig/context separated by comma\nvpp-probe --kubeconfig=\"kubeconfig1,kubeconfig2\" \nvpp-probe --kubecontext=\"kind-2,kind-3\" \n```\n\nWhen running vpp-probe from Docker image\n\n```sh\n# Run from Docker image\ndocker run -it --net=host --volume \"$HOME/.kube/config:/.kube/config\" ligato/vpp-probe --env=kube \n```\n\n

\n\n

Docker

\n\nBasic commands for VPP running in a Docker container\n\n```sh\n# Discover VPP instances in Docker\nvpp-probe --env=docker discover\n\n# Execute a command on all VPP instances\nvpp-probe --env=docker exec -- \"vppctl show counters\"\n\n# Trace packets on all VPP instances for the duration of ping command\nvpp-probe --env=docker trace \"docker exec -it mycontainer ping -c 1 172.17.0.3\"\n```\n\nSpecify a different Docker daemon\n\n```sh\n# Run on different docker host\nvpp-probe --dockerhost=\"/var/run/docker2.sock\" \n```\n\nWhen running vpp-probe from Docker image\n\n```sh\n# Run from Docker image\ndocker run -it --net=host --volume \"/var/run/docker.sock:/var/run/docker.sock\" ligato/vpp-probe --env=docker \n```\n\n

\n\n

Local

\n\nBasic commands for VPP running locally\n\n```sh\n# Discover VPP instances running as local process\nvpp-probe --env=local discover\n\n# Execute a command on all VPP instances\nvpp-probe --env=local exec -- \"vppctl show counters\"\n\n# Trace packets on all VPP instances for the duration of ping command\nvpp-probe --env=local trace \"ping -c 1 192.168.1.1\"\n```\n\nWhen running vpp-probe from Docker image\n\n```sh\n# Run from Docker image\ndocker run -it --net=host --pid=host --volume \"/run/vpp:/run/vpp\" ligato/vpp-probe --env=local \n```\n\n

\n\n---\n\nFor more detailed usage information, read [docs/USAGE.md](docs/USAGE.md)\n\n## Testing\n\n```sh\n# Run integration tests\ngo test ./test/integration\n\n# Run e2e tests\ngo test ./test/e2e\n```\n\nFor more information about testing, read [docs/TESTING.m](docs/TESTING.md)\n\n## Development\n\nRead [docs/DEVELOP.md](docs/DEVELOP.md) for information about vpp-probe development.\n","has_starred","hub_user","immutable_tags_settings",{"_127":11,"_128":129},"enabled","rules",[130],".*","is_automated","permissions",{"_134":21,"_135":11,"_136":11},"read","write","admin","user","storage_size",90623932,"isOrg","reponame","tag","canDeleteTags","isHubSbxKitsEnabled","currentTab","tagAttestations","displaySecurityMetadata","showSbxLogoOverride","routes/_layout.layers.$namespace.$reponame.$tag.(images).($imageUrlDigest)._index",{"_27":28,"_89":-7,"_87":-7,"_88":-7,"_29":151,"_44":45,"_154":155,"_159":11},{"_31":32,"_33":34,"_35":36,"_37":38,"_39":152,"_60":61,"_62":34,"_63":64,"_65":66,"_67":68,"_69":70,"_71":49,"_72":61,"_73":58,"_74":21},[153],{"_42":43,"_44":45,"_46":47,"_48":49,"_50":51,"_52":53,"_54":47,"_55":-5,"_56":36,"_57":58,"_59":-5},"imageWithLayers",{"_42":43,"_44":45,"_46":47,"_48":49,"_50":51,"_78":156,"_52":53,"_54":47,"_55":-5,"_56":36,"_57":58,"_59":-5},[157,158],{"_44":81,"_56":36,"_82":83},{"_56":85,"_82":86,"_44":47},"hasPermissionToViewRepoSettings","actionData","errors"]
