⁠CD-HOMELAB

This repo contains my argo-cd continuous deployment code.

⁠Preparing Your Development Environment

  1. Install curl and git

    sudo apt update && sudo apt install -y \
  build-essential \
  curl \
  git \
  vim

  2. Configure git

    git config --global user.email "[email protected]"
git config --global user.name "Your Name"
git config --global core.editor vim

  3. Install homebrew

    /bin/bash -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/HEAD/install.sh)"
echo 'eval "$(/home/linuxbrew/.linuxbrew/bin/brew shellenv)"' >> ${HOME}/.profile

  4. Clone this repository

    git clone [email protected]:estenrye/cd-homelab.git

  5. Install tools

    cd cd-homelab
brew bundle
sh -c "$(curl -fsSL https://raw.github.com/ohmyzsh/ohmyzsh/master/tools/install.sh)"
sh prep-development-env.sh

  6. If on Linux, Install 1password-cli separately.

⁠Preparing an AWS Environment

  1. Install prerequisites
brew bundle
./configure-local-env.sh
source ~/.zshrc
  1. Install Python 3.10.6 and required packages.
sudo apt-get install -y make build-essential libssl-dev zlib1g-dev \
   libbz2-dev libreadline-dev libsqlite3-dev wget curl llvm libncurses5-dev \
   libncursesw5-dev xz-utils tk-dev libffi-dev liblzma-dev python-openssl

pyenv install 3.10.6
pyenv local 3.10.6
pyenv exec pip install --upgrade pip
pyenv exec pip install -r ./requirements.txt
pyenv exec ansible-galaxy install -r ./requirements.yml
  1. Configure your ~/.ssh/config for SSH Agent Forwarding
Host *.compute.amazonaws.com
  ForwardAgent yes
  StrictHostKeyChecking no
  UserKnownHostsFile=/dev/null

Host *.compute.internal
  StrictHostKeyChecking no
  UserKnownHostsFile=/dev/null
