kanstin/alpine-tomcat repository overview

Based on the alpine-fips⁠ image, this is Tomcat 9.0.x with OpenSSL and the FIPS module enabled but only about 1/3 of the official Tomcat image size. This should work well as a drop in replacement for the official Tomcat image⁠.

You should see the following messages in the logs when starting up:

APR/OpenSSL configuration: useAprConnector [false], useOpenSSL [true]
Using OpenSSL with the FIPS provider as the default provider
OpenSSL successfully initialized [OpenSSL 3.5.1 1 Jul 2025]
